I truly believe that our perception of time is like a river that drifts slowly at
times.  And at other times it becomes rapid, passing at great pace.  Such has
been the case since the birth of my first son Lenon Coltrane Honor.  He is now
2 years and 3 months old.  Watching him grow has made time pass by with
great swiftness.  And while minor events can escape their proper notice,
major events seem to be intensified.

Some 2 weeks ago, a major event took place that was not only tragic but
stopped time all together.  A close family friend, someone that was like a
brother to me, someone who was one of the most genuine human beings that
I have ever met, was murdered.  His name, a certain Louie McCrae, was
otherwise known as "Butchie".

The circumstances around Butchie's murder are irrelevant.  The manner in
which he was murdered is of no consequence.  What is of relevance is that
the house, in which he was murdered, was the same residence occupied by
my wife, two sons, and I, some 6 months ago.  We lived there with my brother
Royal, Butchie, and others.

Our stay at that residence held for 2 years; Butchie moved in after our first
year.  Since the time of our arrival, the house had become less and less
stable.  It had become a revolving door for occupants; many times providing
room and board for less than desireable peope; and less than honorable
company.  My wife and I dealt with those circumstances with grace while
vowing to find some way to move.  At the time, moving was only a matter of
finances.  I recall that I prayed more during that time than I had at any other
period in my life.
