| This past weekend my wife and I made plans to attend two family birthday parties. The first party took place on Saturday and the second on Sunday. My wife and I were looking forward to seeing our relatives again. And I really wanted to take some new photos to add to our families' website. But we were unable to make either party because our two sons were not feeling well. Two and a half weeks ago I came down with a terrible cold and cough. I do not get sick often, probably about twice a year. And it's usually not that big of a deal. But this time it was a big deal in that It took me a full 12 days to recover. My wife became sick about 3 days after my recovery. My wife, a selfless woman, recovered in just a few days saying, "I can't get sick with these kids running around." Then my youngest son got sick on Thursday. He had a fever and a runny nose. My older son soon followed and my wife and I spent the better part of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday caring for our precious children. My oldest son is two years old and I can remember him getting sick one other time. My 7 month old son has had a fever only once before while teething. Needless to say, my wife and I were very careful over the past few days. Normally, when my son whines, I firmly tell him, "That's enough son. No whining." My son listens to my words and settles down a bit. But when a child is not feeling well it is important that you give them as much love and attention as possible; even if it means listening to them whine without interruption. |
