My son is now 2 years old.  Many parents have told me how their children
grew up so quickly; how it seemed like their babies grew into adults over
night.  As a 2 year-old father, I can honestly say that my sons have grown
quickly and that the last two years have passed by at lightning speed.

Much has changed since the day that my 2 year old son was born.  There is
always sound and activity in our home. Their is always a diaper to change or a
child to give attention to.  Everyday is new and exciting, like a new adventure
that stays new.  Their is plenty of life to go around and everyday presents my
wife and I with a higher awareness as to the true meaning of love.

Today I thought about all of the activity, the sound, the responsibility that my
children have brought into my life.  And then I thought about what it would be
like if there were no sounds, no activity, no parenting responsibilities. And
then it hit me; there will be a day when our children will grow into adulthood.  
They will inevitably seek to pursue their own lives separate from their parents.  
They will no longer be our babies.

When I thought about all of this I became sad.  I can only imagine what it must
be like for a parent to experience their children leaving the nest.  It must be
hard for many parents.  And I wonder just how hard it will be for me and my
wife when that day comes.
